Katie Kamholz, ATR-BC, LCPC, is a clinical counselor and board-certified art therapist. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) from Washington University in St. Louis and her Master of Arts in Art Therapy (MAAT) from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Katie has completed advanced training in crisis intervention, sexual assault and domestic violence counseling, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and the treatment of anxiety and OCD.
With over 20 years of experience as an art therapist, Katie has worked in a wide range of settings, including pediatric inpatient psychiatry, adolescent residential treatment, child welfare, middle school counseling, and community mental health. She has also served as a faculty member in the MAATC program at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago for more than a decade.
Rooted in a humanistic and client-centered approach, Katie’s clinical work is informed by neuropsychology and integrates evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). She incorporates art therapy and body-centered techniques alongside traditional talk therapy to support holistic healing.
Katie believes in the importance of discovering (and rediscovering!) the many parts of ourselves, giving voice to those parts, and using self-knowledge as a foundation for meaningful and lasting change.
