Holly DeRosa, ATR-BC, LCPC is a clinical counselor and board-certified art therapist with 20 years of experience. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Art Photography from Syracuse University and a Master of Arts in Art Therapy (MAAT) from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Holly has received additional training and certification in family therapy, anxiety, trauma, and neurodiversity. She has worked as an art therapist in diverse settings including therapeutic day schools for youth with autism, pediatric hospitals, intensive-model therapy camps for children with autism and developmental challenges, day treatment and residential facilities for adults with developmental disabilities, and self-contained classrooms in public schools.
Holly works with a wide range of clients- from young children to adults- and offers both individual and family-based art therapy. In addition to traditional one-on-one therapy, she provides family art therapy and dyadic art therapy sessions, supporting connection and communication between parents, caregivers, and children through the creative process. She has presented nationally and internationally on the use of art therapy with children of varying needs, and she has led in-service trainings for school districts and companies.
Holly’s therapeutic approach is steeped in the trust built through relationships. She uses an eclectic, integrative model that draws on parts work, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), neuro-affirming care, and multicultural sensitivity. Her work honors each client's unique voice, identity, and experience, using art as a powerful medium for healing, self-expression, and connection.
